COAX’s music sounds like it’s been expertly crafted for long summer days with a nice, cold cider in your hand surrounded by all your friends. We managed to catch with the band as they gear up for their biggest summer yet.
We love your new track “Fire”, could you tell us a little about it?
We’re glad you like it! ‘Fire’ is our latest single, and has already received some amazing support from ITVs This Morning, and BBC Introducing. It’s a dynamic track, filled with energy and passion and is already a festival favourite. Fire is about the aftermath of a relationship, and thinking about all the things you loved about that time and that person, but ultimately realising that you shouldn’t go back because you weren’t right for each other. This is really summed up in the chorus in that the love described is intense like a fire, but you want to watch it burn and be destroyed.
How did COAX start out?
COAX started out at a rehearsal room in Guildford. We all met up together for the first time and wrote a track in the first 3 hours! We’d all known each other for various periods of time and ultimately decided to meet up and see what happens. Within a few months we’d been named Vodafone’s Future Breakers and were playing a session for Capital and Heart, broadcast to millions!
Who are the biggest influences on your sound?
We love stadium bands like Kings Of Leon, One Republic and Coldplay, but we’re also influenced by the intricate writing and storytelling of James Bay and Ed Sheeran.
You recently supported Jerry Williams, how was that experience?
Supporting Jerry was great! We’ve known Jerry for years and she’s a great talent, and to play on the same bill was amazing. It was our first show in Brighton and we had a great time!
And finally, what does the future hold for COAX?
The future for COAX… We’re working on some new tracks at the moment that are without doubt our best work so far! We’ve been recording at the world famous Metropolis studios, and can’t wait for people to hear what we’ve been working on! There might be some more shows, festivals etc so you’ll have to keep watch on our socials for announcements…
