Lucy Rose’s connection to her fans is undeniable. In 2016, Rose embarked on a two-month tour of South America, with each show being booked by the fans themselves. Last summer saw the release of Rose’s latest album Something’s Changing, from which this single is taken.
The video for the single features long-time fan Zoe Schofield. The pair met at the screening for the documentary Rose made about her travels around South America. Schofield suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), which means she can’t get around easily and is often tied to her home. So to raise awareness of CFS, and after much planning, the pair travelled to the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland to film the video.
‘Strangest Of Ways’ captures Rose’s talents perfectly. Her ability to charm and mesmerise through simple, but well thought out song structures, in a time where songwriters are packing their music with endless hooks and beats is refreshing. You can feel nature’s elements coursing through the music and her hypnotic voice.
In some ways, it’s disappointing that Rose left a major record label to regain control of her music, but it doesn’t seem to have had a negative effect. Rose is currently embarking on a tour of Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, before returning to Europe. Where ever you are in the world, if you get a chance to see this dynamic and inclusive performer, then do it. It will be a chance to see the workings of an honest songwriter in the flesh.
