Track Review: M.I. – “Euphoria”

Whilst the word Euphoria in music may make you think of high-intensity banger a la Loreen at 2012 Eurovision, London-born M.I. achieves a different kind of Euphoria with her latest single.

Originally from East London, the former winner of the BBC show “Pitch Battle” creates a delightful blend of Caribou meets soul and R&B as she coos to her lover, promising an escape from the crushing weight of reality.

It’s minimal electronica background, reminiscent of early noughties Portishead and the like, coupled with the rich sultry vocals creates a blissed out summer sound perfect for floating on a pool somewhere. The layering of Akin’s and M.I. vocals with an underwater feel is a lovely dreamy touch and I couldn’t help but be seduced by the song.
